Are you ready for the BIG VEG Challenge?

The first of October marks the beginning of World Veg Month and what better time to have a go at SAFE’s Big Veg Challenge?

A 30-day pledge to help stop animal suffering one meal at a time! And don’t worry; we’ll be there to help you out along the way.

When you sign up for the challenge you’ll receive free recipes, plenty of advice on nutrition and tips for eating out, meal plans to get you started and even access to a group for swapping ideas to help keep you motivated.

Animals are suffering right now across New Zealand and by Going Veg for 30 days, you can save an estimated 8 lives. Who wouldn’t want to do that? But there’s more; eating a plant based diet can do wonders for your health - lower your blood pressure and reduce your risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes and osteoporosis. Veg diets are also naturally low in saturated fat, high in fibre, and full of vitamins and minerals!

By Going Veg you can give the earth a break too. Raising animals for food is one of the largest contributors to environmental degradation worldwide, and contributes to deforestation, air and water pollution, land degradation, loss of topsoil, climate change, the overuse of resources including oil and water, and loss of biodiversity. The United Nations now encourages a move towards a plant based diet.
