COLLECTORS GUIDELINES

GUIDELINES FOR COLLECTORS

We realise it takes courage and commitment to help in street appeals so we are truly grateful for your support. The following guidelines may be of help and clarify some of the conditions of our street collection.

TIPS FOR COLLECTORS

  • Try to remain positive and polite. If you start feeling tired, take a break.
  • If you're in a costume, please take care of it.
  • If you feel like continuing past the initial two hours and are not in a costume, go for it. Otherwise, check to see if the costume is needed first.
  • Speak clearly and confidently when asking for a donation.
  • Try to establish eye contact with people and smile. Ask if they would like to make a donation.
  • Hold the bucket in front of you. Ask people if they would like a sticker.
What to say?

Would you like to donate against animal abuse?
Can you donate to SAFE to help animals?
Would you like to support animal welfare?
Donate to stop animal cruelty.

Things to remember

  • An official collector ID badge must be worn while collecting.
  • Don't take the 'No's' personally and don't be rude if this happens.
  • Avoid lengthy conversations or discussions with people.
  • When in pairs, try to avoid talking to each other too much.
  • Don't block shop or business entrances.
  • Please refrain from smoking or eating when collecting.
  • Under no circumstances should the bucket be unsealed, e.g., to give change.
  • Please remain within your assigned area unless it is particularly quiet.
  • Return your bucket personally to SAFE immediately after collecting.
  • Come straight back to the office/meeting place as others may have been booked for your costume and bucket.

Proceeds

All proceeds raised during the appeal will go towards local educational programmes to campaign against animal cruelty. SAFE was founded over 70 years ago and campaigns on behalf of all animals to promote compassion and respect.
