Wellingtonians braved the cold and wet at the annual Aro Valley Fair, raising over $350 in donations for SAFE. Wellington SAFE coordinator Rachel Manley says it was a huge success.
"Despite the modest nature of this community fair, we managed to sell nearly 300 vegetarian sausages, with many people returning for seconds! It was great to provide the vegetarians and vegans with a cruelty free sausage sizzle. At least one customer remarked that they usually had to avoid the sizzles as they invariably contain meat," says Rachel. The stall managed to raise $350 for SAFE's Animal Aid relief efforts to help animals caught up in Christchurch's earthquake. A huge thanks to all the dedicated volunteers who helped run the event despite the weather!
