SAFE volunteer Helen Roberts participated in this year's Vegetarian Triathlon, to combine her lifestyle choice of being vegetarian, with having fun and getting active
Helen said one great thing about the triathlon was "getting to meet new people who are vegetarian too." Helen was joined by SAFE staff and other volunteers, where they each swam up to 600m, cycled between 5-15km and ran up to 4.5km. The annual Vegetarian Triathlon is organised by the Christchurch Vegetarian Centre. SAFE volunteer coordinator Sacha Dowell says aside from completing the triathlon and getting a cool t-shirt, the best part of the day was the post-triathlon dinner of vegan pizza, salad and dessert and loads of spot prizes. Good on ya Helen and all the other triathlon participants! This weekend Auckland SAFEers will be participating in the Round the Bays fun run (and walk!).
