SAFE VOLUNTEER CROWNED MISS CHRISTCHURCH! |
Dozens of girls were vying to become Miss Christchurch, motivated by everything from a potential career to promoting animal rights.
The Miss Christchurch and Miss Teen Christchurch 2009 were held at The Crown Plaza last week with the winner representing the city at Miss Teen Oceania. Christchurch ballet student Emma McDonald, 19, said she wanted to become Miss Christchurch to help promote animal rights. "I do a lot of stuff for SAFE and if you could say you're Miss Christchurch it'd be easier to get your point across. It's fun and good for your confidence. It's not just a competition for who is the prettiest." Emma took the Miss Christchurch 2009 title which means she will represent Christchurch in Miss Earth New Zealand in Auckland this year. The winner of that contest will take part in Miss Earth, held in the Philippines. Great stuff Emma!
