Last Sunday Auckland SAFE supporters came out in force to help raise money for SAFE's LovePigs campaign. Donning bright blue vests and assorted animal ears, the dedicated supporters - working in shifts - collected donations outside a local supermarket for nine hours. Highlights of the day include the fabulous Sylvester, who dared to be different adorned in a lion costume and committed Dawn, who bravely showed up to the collection on crutches. "It was a great day," says Auckland campaign officer Laura Cleary. "We had a bit of bad weather, but our committed team of volunteers made all the difference and we managed to raise heaps of money to help the pigs. Collecting donations is one of the major ways in which SAFE raises funds for campaign activities," she says. SAFE Auckland is very grateful to Laura, Dawn, Matt, Yasmina, Claire, Elaine, Sylvester, Jo and Amy for all their hard work - great job guys! The funds from the collection will help to purchase new gear for SAFE's LovePigs campaign.
