SAFE LAUNCHES ANIMALS AND US

HenResourceCoverNew Zealand teachers have lacked proper resources to teach the value of compassion to animals, until now. This week SAFE will launch Animals & Us, an exciting new humane education programme designed to advance knowledge and critical thinking about the relationship between human and non-human animals.

"After two years of careful planning and research it's great to be able to offer teachers and students a comprehensive education programme that offers high-quality, thought-provoking resources on animal issues", says SAFE education officer, Nichola Kriek.

The first resource takes a critical look at the highly topical issue of battery hen farming. Animals & Us provides a valuable opportunity for students to reflect on issues concerning our moral and ethical obligations towards animals. Tightly linked to the NCEA English curriculum the resource includes contributions from some of the most experienced and influential animal advocates nationally and internationally.

Teachers interested in receiving one of 100 free advance copies of the resource can email nichola@safe.org.nz or call 03 379 9711.
