SAFE ATTENDS AUSTRALASIAN CONFERENCE

SAFE director Anthony Terry and campaign director Hans Kriek joined activists from all over Australia to participate in this year's Animals Australia Conference. Australia has also seen a healthy growth of the animal rights movement over the last few years. "It is heartening to see our movement getting stronger by the day and learn about progress made", says Hans. "The Animals Australia conference is a great opportunity to share ideas and information. A lot of the animal issues we deal with are similar in both countries but each also has its own particular problems such as the live sheep export and the brutal annual slaughter of four million kangaroos."

SAFE intends to work where possible with its Australian counterparts. This will see a strengthening of the movement and enable the sharing of expertise and resources. "SAFE is particular excited by the launch of a new Australian campaign on intensive pig farming. This coincides with SAFE's pig campaign in New Zealand and I am convinced that both campaigns will benefit pigs tremendously", says Hans.
