SAFE is back in full swing with stalls in the Auckland area starting at the Otara market. Focused on the LovePigs campaign the stall encountered a mixed reaction with some folks thinking that the stall was offering live pigs for sale! Despite the confusion, the Otara Market proved a success with many consumer pledge postcards signed calling for a ban on sow stalls. Auckland campaign assistant Hana Spierer had the pleasure of meeting opposition leader John Key and enlightened him about SAFE's LovePigs campaign. "He claimed to be unaware of the state of factory farming and said he would look into the issue by doing some research. Let's hope that if he does get into parliament he will make some real changes to end the suffering of pigs," says Hana. If you want to help raise awareness about SAFE's campaigns email hana@safe.org.nz to register. Help is needed for the following stalls: 11 October - Parnell Markets 18 October - Raglan Markets 19 October - Takapuna Markets 22 November - Grey Lynn Festival
