INTERNATIONAL COMEDIAN AIDS ANIMALS |
Australian stand up comedian Joanne Brookfield staged her hilarious act about her beloved German Shepherd cross Murphy in Christchurch recently and raised money for SAFE in the process. SAFE was delighted to have been associated with Joanne's international-class act sticking up for animals and at her support for SAFE's work. "Animal cruelty is always such a serious matter. It's a delightful change to be able to approach helping animals in a humorous way. Murphy must have been an amazing animal to inspire an entire show. But then again, most animals are amazing and it's great to be reminded of it with humour," says SAFE's campaign director Hans Kriek. Fourteen SAFE volunteers attended Joanne's show and had a great time while raising funds and distributing magazines and membership leaflets to audience members. Animals are only one of Brookfield's passions. Her shows have raised funds for other charities including $8,000 for Unicef.
