DESIGNER HIGHTLIGHTS FACTORY FARMED ANIMALS

Annah Stretton took an anti-factory farming message to the fashion runway of Australia's 2010 Fashion Week last month.

The collection, entitled Stop the Slaughter, was inspired by the activist and actress Brigitte Bardot who, back in the sixties, was very outspoken about exposing animal cruelty and advocating for animal rights.

Models who sported Stretton's 60's inspired garb, also wore small plastic animals entrapped in human hair which were then entwined into their own Bardot-esque hair-dos.

The message, aimed at the well-healed as well as the well-dressed, was subtle yet creative despite the show's title. It stressed that chickens and pigs especially need exposure of their farming methods, and that there are many people out there who can easily afford humane options.
