CHRISTCHURCHSAFE Meeting 7pm, Thursday, 2 July, at SAFE, Level 1, 145 Armagh St Volley meeting How NZ animal welfare legislation fails factory farmed animals SAFE campaign director Hans Kriek will talk about the upcoming reviews of the layer hen and pig welfare codes. These codes are up for review this year and we will examine if the review process will actually make a difference for the animals. Hans will talk about the intentions of the Animal Welfare Act and how and why animal welfare codes seem at odds with the Act. We will have a discussion about SAFE's involvement with the review process and what the best way forward is for SAFE's campaign against factory farming. There will be some snack food provided though feel free to bring something vegan to share if you like.
Pig Leafleting Can you volunteer an hour of your time to distribute pig leaflets in a pig costume (optional but recommended!)? This can be done anytime, anywhere over the next week or two to continue to raise awareness of factory pig farming after the media attention this week. Contact sacha@safe.org.nz to volunteer.
