Volunteering for SAFE is an essential role as it helps to spread the message against animal cruelty issues across New Zealand. Volunteers can organise or assist with stalls, displays, public meetings, protest actions, fundraising events, and actively support SAFE's humane education programme. You are invited to support our work by getting involved locally.  

 

AUCKLAND

 

SAFE's Round the Bays Auckland Team
8.30am, Sunday, 18 March

Run, walk and raise funds for SAFE by taking part in Round the Bays Auckland! You can choose to be in the walkers or runners teams and wear a SAFE chicken or pig costume - making the most of a perfect opportunity to further educate the public about battery hen farming. There are sponsorship forms available for you to get your friends and family involved in helping the chickens too.

To join SAFE's official team contact Eliot at eliot@safe.org.nz to express interest and register, and to receive a sponsorship form. The cost of the event is is $15.There will be a post-run vege barbeque for participants!

SAFE on the street
Auckland SAFE volunteers run regular info and campaign stalls on the city streets, at events and festivals. If you love talking to people and are interested in getting involved speaking up for the animals, please contact auckland@safe.org.nz

Orientation events
SAFE will have a presence at the University Orientations during February-March.

RAGLAN

Vegan potluck dinners

HAWKES BAY

Vegan Potlucks
Monthly potlucks are held for Hawkes Bay vegetarians, vegans and friends/supporters - a great opportunity to eat yummy food and meet other local like-minded people! Contact Donna on donna444@gmail.com for more information. All welcome.

 

PALMERSTON NORTH

WELLINGTON 

SAFE Chicken Run AMI Round the Bays 7km Fun Run
Meet at 9:00am, Sunday, 26 February,  (Frank Kitts Park, Queens Wharf)
SAFE is organising a run/walk for the 7km part of the marathon. You are able to wear a chicken costume, as this is a perfect opportunity to further educate the public about battery hen farming, and poncho styles are available for summer running! SAFE has an official team, so you'll need to contact rachel@safe.org.nz to get the team password to then register. The cost of the 7km is $20. Check out the event website.

SAFE sausage Sizzle, Newtown Street Festival 2012
10:00am until 4:00pm,
Sunday, 4 March, Riddiford Street
The Newtown Street Festival is a smorgasbord of 6 music stages, a busking pitch, 2 fairground sites, and 300 stalls. SAFE will be holding a vegan sausage sizzle and info stall at this event! CHRISTCHURCH

SAFE Vegan Potluck
7pm - 9pm approx, Friday, 17 February, Riccarton.
SAFE's vegan potlucks are always a great opportunity to try fantastic vegan food, share recipes and ideas and meet like-minded local people. Malkiat Singh is our host for the first potluck for 2012 which will be located in the Riccarton area. Please RSVP to sacha@safe.org.nz for further details and/ or questions. Friends and family, human and non-human animals are all very welcome! Come along for a relaxing night with fabulous food.
