What makes a good party? I’ve hosted a few legendary garden parties in my time. There are two rules: aim to please and work to impress. You must have a strong theme, the right mix of good vibrations and eloquent lighting to inspire a l’atmosphere magnifique. And of course, you need well-spirited friends. But I have digressed.

When I say what makes a good party, I of course am referring to a political party. So we have an election. Not sure what it will achieve other than confirm what everyone knows already. I have been hearing for over a year now that National is to conquer. They say if you hear something enough times you believe it. That be true, then New Zealand has already become a National state and I blue!

I do know if National does rein there will be no celebratory parties for SAFE or the animals. National doesn’t have an animal welfare policy but neither does Labour for that matter. In fact, most parties fall short on aiming to please or working to impress on the animal-front. They maybe ’party people’ but they certainly suck when it comes to answering questions about animal welfare. The tunes are mute and the themes are weak. In some cases, the only vibration is from frustration after reading the results of a recent survey SAFE sent to each political party. At least the Greens show their true colours and can demonstrate they are a party that is prepared to work hard to impress all of their friends. I hope they invite me.
