SAFE IN ACTION
SAFE campaign officer Sacha Dowell reports that SAFE has been very active throughout the country thanks to
a wonderful team of volunteers. Sacha shares some of the notable activities over the past month. Queenstown SAFE had a good presence at
the recent Life Synergy Expo. SAFE volunteer Ruth de Reus reports they handed out heaps of information and met loads of great people supportive of SAFE. The LovePigs shopping
bags were, as expected, very popular. Nelson SAFE held another fantastic stall at the annual Ecofest
festival to raise awareness that eating meat is harmful to the planet. They screened DVDs, gave out information and sold lots of
merchandise. Invercargill SAFE has been doing an amazing job running stalls, window displays and regular meetings. A SAFE vegetarian sausage
sizzle at Earthdance in Christchurch proved a popular stall selling a few hundred cruelty free sausages to a throng of hungry dancers.
SAFE
groups around the country held stalls and gave out information about cruelty to chickens after Jamie Oliver's TV exposé. Circus protests have
taken place all around the country and are now taking place in the Wellington Region. If you can help with this ongoing campaign please click here. SAFE volunteers have held numerous collections at supermarkets to raise money
for the LovePigs campaign with the most recent collections being held in Wellington, Palmerston North, Whangarei and
Hamilton. In late August, Gisborne SAFE recruited 10 volunteers and ran a super-duper stall that gave away vegan food in
return for donations and sold lots of LovePig bags. |
